Test and tag for medical and healthcare
Test and Tag for Medical & Healthcare Practices in Sydney
Medical, dental and allied-health practices carry a high duty of care and a lot of everyday electrical equipment in reception, consult rooms, treatment areas and staff spaces. Rapid Test & Tag tests the general plug-in electrical equipment in your practice — computers, leads, power boards and appliances — to AS/NZS 3760:2022, discreetly and around patient hours, with records that support your practice accreditation.
Important: what we test (and what we don't)
We want to be clear up front, because it matters in a clinical setting. We test the general plug-in electrical equipment in a practice: reception and office gear, consult-room computers and monitors, chargers, extension leads and power boards, and kitchen and staff-room appliances.
We do not test patient-connected medical devices — electrical safety testing of medical electrical equipment is a separate, specialised field (covered by AS/NZS 3551 and carried out by biomedical technicians), and we won't pretend otherwise. If an item is a medical device, we'll tell you it sits outside test and tag and should go to a biomedical specialist. That honesty is part of doing the job properly.
What gets tested in a practice
- ✓Reception and office — computers, monitors, printers, EFTPOS and their leads.
- ✓Consult and treatment rooms — general plug-in equipment, lighting, chargers, fans and heaters (not patient-connected medical devices).
- ✓Staff room and kitchen — kettles, microwaves, fridges, dishwashers (higher-use, tested more often).
- ✓Cleaning equipment — vacuums and their leads.
- ✓Extension leads and power boards throughout (earth continuity, insulation resistance and polarity checks).
Why practices test and tag
A practice (a PCBU) has a work-health-and-safety duty to keep its electrical equipment safe for patients and staff, and testing to AS/NZS 3760:2022 is the recognised way to meet it for general equipment. In practice, accreditation and insurers commonly expect evidence of electrical safety, and current test-and-tag records are the straightforward way to show it at an accreditation visit or audit.
Discreet, around your patients
We attend before opening, after close or in a quiet window, work discreetly around reception and rooms, and provide same-day digital records and an asset register ready for your accreditation file. Work is carried out under licence TTT69067, fully insured.
What it costs
Our minimum is $120 + GST, which covers your first 30 items, with no call-out fee — enough for many single practices. Larger clinics and multi-site groups are quoted per item; see our pricing page, or send your practice location and rough item count for a fast quote.
